MATHIEU OLIVIER REPORT CARD, Blue Jackets sign Cam Talbot, and so much more.

All right, so next up, we're going to talk about the goaltending news today involving the Blue Jackets.

Yes.

Which is that the Blue Jackets have signed Cam Talbot to a one-year deal.

Now, that kind of tells me something right there.

Because we know Elvis Merzlikens had the shoulder surgery.

But other than that fact, we really don't know much about what's going on with Elvis Merzlikens that he had the shoulder surgery.

And we've talked about this on a previous show where it's like, OK, well, what happens there? Like, is he going to be OK for the season ready to go? Is he going to be out for a bit? I don't know, because if he's out for a bit, obviously the Blue Jackets goaltending depth does take a hit.

Because Elvis Merzlikens has shown he can be a good goalie for the Blue Jackets.

He's gotten some big wins for the Blue Jackets.

And especially in the shootout, the last two seasons, Elvis Merzlikens is 7-0 in the shootout.

So he's been an important part of the Blue Jackets.

But if he's out for a bit, then someone else has to take that spot.

And going out of your way to signing Cam Talbot to a one-year deal tells me that the Blue Jackets think that they're not getting Elvis Merzlikens right away.

Because there's no...

You wouldn't be doing what you're doing right now by getting Cam Talbot if you think Elvis Merzlikens is okay to start the season.

And...

It's not even like a bad move because Cam Talbot has shown that he can be a good goalie, a good veteran goalie.

But then again, you just wonder how that's going to work out with the Blue Jackets if Elvis Merzlikens isn't there.

And he's battling for a spot with Phoenix Copley.

So you wonder how that's going to go.

So it's just kind of interesting to see how this is going to work out because as of right now, if I had to take a guess, I would say that Elvis Merzlikens is not with the blue jackets to start the season because to me, that's the only reason why you would go out and get Cam Talbot.

So that'll just be interesting to see how this goes.

Yeah.

I'm pretty curious about this too.

Um, A couple things to note here.
