It showed those hard-fought losses that, in the moment, you're upset because it came against the Yankees.

But if this is like a June 14th game against the Reds, you're like, whatever.

Or against the Guardians, or the Tigers, or the Rockies.

Maybe not the Rockies.

Just look at who's actually in the stands.

I think I first noticed this with the Reds a couple years ago when they were making a run.

Nobody's going to these games.

I mean, nobody is going to these games, and I just, this idea that, like, it's driving a lot of fan interest in September, uh, just look at the game.

And I, I just think, again, the Stewart thing, I don't know.

People aren't as interested in Rookie of the Year, but for me, it would still be Weatherholt.

And, and even if you said not Weatherholts, I'd probably come up with a couple guys ahead of Stewart, which, uh, I'm leaning into the bit of not talking about the Reds here on Effectively Wild, I guess.

But, you know, it's not that Stewart's had a bad season or anything, but it's just, like, even Carson Benge, even Nolan McLain, we could put a couple-

Last year it was a similar thing, and the Mets were kind of in the mix, and then they, uh, just completely soiled themselves to the point where y- they didn't even make the playoffs.

The Cincinnati Reds got the final spot.

So, y- the door has been opened for the Phillies in the division the last two years.

Now, they still have to walk through it.

Then Thursday's a day off, and then they are on the road in, uh, Texas and Baltimore for, uh, six games going, uh, Friday to, uh, Wednesday.

Then they have a day, then they have a day off, and then they'll wrap up the season against the, uh, Cincinnati Reds, who are, uh, currently, uh, seventy and seventy-nine over in the National League.

Kind of rare that, uh, you know, American League team-- Well, somebody has to do it every year.

There has to be one, uh, 'cause there's fifteen and fifteen.

Y- you know, it's just not the most money spent on the roster, but the two teams now that have clinched a playoff spot before anyone else in baseball is the Brewers and it's the Rays.

They swept the Cubs on the week, and then they put up 36 runs in three games against the Reds.

Now, they did lose one of those.

They put up 20 and then 10 the next day.

That said, if the Padres are who they say they are, then this will be our last downturn.

The Pittsburgh-Tampa Bay-Cincinnati swing of 2-7 will be their last one.

They're playing now like they're capable of.

They know that now is the time they absolutely have to for some reason, and I think this is something that must be explored.

And it was like a meet and greet thing.

And I want to go down there as a former Reds pitcher.

And I'm, you know, I got something to do.

So I go down, it's not that far.

There was an earthquake during the World Series, I think 1990.

What was that, the Giants and the Reds? No, it was the Giants and the A's, 'cause it happened out there in California.

But no, 1990, the Reds were in the World Series.

Against the A's.

Regardless, I mean, there was some Northern California earthquake stuff going on.
