Episode #30: Week 3 Recap

I- it was, it's a stinger, man.

You know, it, it, this season is so different in the fact that they're a professional football team, I think they were not that last year, and it kinda makes these losses, like, hurt just, like, that much more.

Um, you know, both of us are obviously anti-tank as of right now, so, you know, I'm going into these with, with a lot of hope and, and, you know, a lot of my week kinda depends on it.

I will say, Joey, I feel much better about this loss, however, than I did about the Packers loss.

Um, and you know, that's for a multitude of reasons.

And, you know, there's obviously a lot of discourse going on online about who to blame the game on, right? Why'd they lose? And sometimes I just think we need to stop overthinking it and kind of realize, hey, you know, the Lions have a top 10 quarterback, the best player in the NFL in Jahmyr Gibbs, and, you know, Amon-Ra St.

Brown, right? There's only so much you can do, and, you know, Amon-Ra, uh, Gibbs, they, they combined for four touchdowns, and obviously you get a lot of finger-pointing of, hey, you know, that's on Glenn not being able to stop them.

It's like, all right, listen, I hear you, but, you know, Glenn is also the head coach of the team.

He's not the defensive coordinator, and the offense looked really fucking good, and it was a fun game to watch overall against a competitive team that should be in the playoffs.

So, you know, Joey, I'm, I'm, like, okay with the loss.

Like, I don't think I'm, like, doom and gloom like I was last week.

I think I'm gonna, I'm actually gonna listen to some podcasts this week, get back in the zone and, you know, hopefully they can bounce back against Chicago, uh, you know, a backup quarterback it looks like.

Yeah, it does seem like that's gonna be the case, uh, next week in Chicago.

I, I will say after the loss, I was pretty mad, uh, and I think the hour after, a couple hours after, kinda thinking of, uh, the broader perspective of this whole season and, you know, I predicted the Jets to win four games this year, so my expectations were pretty low.

[laughs]

Um, and I think, you know, after today, I had to really tell myself that that was really how I felt, and I think the past three weeks have kind of changed that mindset a little bit.

I, I'm not used to seeing the Jets play in these close type of games three weeks in a row, one of which was a, a dominating win.

Second was where they kind of blew the game.

And today they were, you know, like I said in the podcast earlier this week, I said they would have to go ban for ban with Jared Goff.

Dude, Geno Smith showed up today and, and showed out and had a phenomenal football game.

The offense looked amazing.

Sadiq looked great.

Garrett was, you know, I, I took, you know, half of our wide receiver corps to go down for Garrett to get, you know, 10, 11 receptions or whatever it was, but-

God, he's so fucking good, dude

... he's amazing.
