Thank you for downloading the Trap One Podcast. On this episode UK Jason, Si, Pete, Dan and Hannah explore the Collection: Season 21, covering the final episodes of the Fifth Doctor and the first…
obviously the first story of the season.
We've got Warriors of the Deep and I think the first thing we really need to talk about is just how amazing the new edit is with the new special effects.
Yes, we did.
Yeah.
Sorry, we got everywhere.
And if you had told anyone in the 90s, particularly, the story that one day there would be a giant cinema screening at the BFI of Warriors of the Bloody Deep.
and it was on my birthday as well my i spent my birthday watching warriors of the deep at the big cinema telling me like 11 10 year old me would have just gone no but your 53rd birthday will be spent watching warriors of the deep and they've made it really pacey and entertaining and everyone will be laughing and just enjoying themselves
yeah and the people involved in making the original all love the new version and are like that's what it was meant to be like as with the happiness patrol it's not somebody coming in and stamping a new vision on it
yeah they sorted out like the production issues as much as they could i really enjoyed it anyone else
I haven't gone back and re-watched the
original
since I only re-watched the new one.
Has anyone re-watched
the original? I have re-watched the original because, as I said on our field before at the BFI, I've always liked Warriors of Doom.
I'm fed up with people going, oh, it's always been a bit shit, but they've made it great now.
No, it was all right already.
quite good as far as i was concerned so i did go back and it is hard to go back now because it is such a nice improvement and just little bits like the like computer graphics and things that they've done on other episodes Instead of staring at some people who are actually watching something on a screen, you get the cut of them actually watching something on a screen.
It's just elements like that that add on to the pace of it.
There's YouTube videos doing the side-by-side comparisons as well, which is a better way probably of doing it.
And some of it is just like there's a blank screen because there's nothing there in the original to compare it to.
The murker is, yeah, the main thing.
As much as I've always loved the story...
You just kind of have to put up with the murker, actually.
