When these things are done, you know, when Elizabeth Sladen went from John Pertwee to Tom Baker, she worked there because of the nature of her character.

But then you get to Tom Baker and Peter Davison with Adrick.

many rewrites this story's went through before it got to where it was you know it was initially 4th Doctor and Manna then it was 4th Doctor and Manna and Adric then it was 4th 5th Doctor Teagan, Nyssa and Adric and then no Adric so it's went through the mincer so many times what you're left with is four part ones essentially Every episode is just content in and of itself.

So you have this very first episode, which is, I'll be honest, is quite a very strong set up.

Speaking of things being seen through the glass, I love that in the final moments of Earthshock when Peter Davison's choking you with Adric's badge and stuff, you can see the mic sort of sliding through your glass chin, which is emblematic of the fraught nature of TV production at that time.

It's probably like about five minutes to 10 o'clock and the lights will shut down.

What are your memories of working in such a high-paced environment, especially with Peter Grimway directing the way he did and trying to just get everything in the can while you're behind a mask for a good chunk of it?

But yeah, the Dalek scene and the little psychological break gives you the time to think, yeah, they've been sad for a minute.
