Oh, no, have you read Resurrection of the Daleks? [laughs]

I know.

It drew heavily on classic Cybermen lore, including the Tenth Planet, the Tomb of the Cybermen, and the Invasion.

Seward then appears to have expanded the outline with new elements, including the return of Lytton from Resurrection of the Daleks and the creation of the Kryons.

Nathan Turner added another attention-grabbing idea, the Doctor trying to repair the TARDIS chameleon circuit, a plot point he knew would attract press interest.

Because neither Sayward nor Levine could be credited, the scripts were commissioned under the name Paula Moore, a pseudonym connected to Sayward's ex-girlfriend, Paula Woolsey.

The production itself changed shape as it went along.

The story, first titled The Cold War, was written as two 45-minute episodes, part of a major format shift for Doctor Who's 22nd season.

Director Matthew Robinson, fresh from Resurrection of the Daleks, worked with Saywoods to simplify a complicated second episode.

which originally involved a hidden Kryon colony on Halley's Comet itself.

Um, Eric Saward delivers Resurrection of the Daleks, and then Robert Holmes returns to Doctor Who in The Caves of Androzani.

Um, they become great pals and spend an awful lot of time together, and then Eric Saward delivers Revelation of the Daleks, which is suddenly very funny, very fast, full of great characters and double acts, and all of those things that you'd probably say, "Robert Holmes." I think Robert Holmes had a pass at Revelation [laughs] of the Daleks, or at least said to him, "Try this.

So this episode, we are going to look back on the entirety of season 21 with our usual blend of awards, metrics and questions from our friends on social media.

But before we get into that, I'm going to take a look at the mail and I will be focusing on Resurrection of the Daleks.

And we start with our dear, dear friend, R. Alan Siler, who says, I love Resurrection.

I like when Doctor Who gets a little grittier.

Yes, far too much stuff is crammed into this one, but I love everything about it.

followed by Julie, then Diana, and then finally myself.

And so we start with best and worst stories.

And the options here are Warriors of the Deep, The Awakening, Frontios, Resurrection of the Daleks, Planet of Fire, The Caves of Androzani, and The Twin Dilemma.

And it basically boils down to the runtime almost and a slightly more coherent story in the one that ends up getting ahead.

So my number nine, I think, yeah, number nine this is, is Resurrection of the Daleks.

The stuff that's good Doctor Who, it's fine, but it's not my favourite.

I think that's what I want to stress.

I'm by no means saying that Resurrection of the Daleks is bad because there was a fair bit to like.
