I think what isn't really sufficiently acknowledged is this is the fourth iteration of the Daleks.

I mean, the thing is that each time we've brought the Daleks back, like the scale has been greater.

Yeah.

And Terry Nation will eventually settle on, when he does Doctor Who for the '70s, he basically drops three scripts that are the same.

Yeah.

And I think often you read that directors whinging about how much room this set took up, space set took up in the, in the, in terms of setting it up.

But in terms of what was your concept and idea, because I suspect knowing Terry Nation, he wouldn't have given a lot of direction in terms of what he thought the ship would look like.

So I would assume a lot of it was your creativity along with a bit of mentioned by the director how did you get the idea of the layers the levels the the hexagons the circles i mean all the shape it's it's an iconic set that nothing else is like it where did it come from um

i i well in here um i mean terry had written things like you know they're sitting on set on a sofa you know

I mean, it's [laughs] obviously from the Terry Nation school of, of, [laughs] naming races.

The Cryons are evidently from a cold planet.

Mm.

But we, when we do talk about Terry, we don't talk about Terry Wright.

We don't talk about Terry as an actual very, very good writer, not just of Doctor Who, but of serialized television.

So if you go and say to Mark, um, Terry Nation, first thing you'll think is Part One.

You'll probably be thinking about some mad green cocktail that he's brewed up for his Dos Equis.
