The future of warfare is changing fast, and the path to peace in the Middle East remains uncertain. In Episode 29 of The Sparks Show, Spencer Parks and Cameron Collier discuss the Pentagon’s dispute…
So this week, so to speak, there's been some news rolling out about AI developments.
We've been seeing some legal battles sort of emerge about the uses of AI, kill switches, when it should be and should not be used, and the latest discrepancy has been about the... pentagon or the department of war using a specific ai company which is anthropic whose ai model is claude that is more commonly known to everybody and there's been a dispute why don't you tell us a little bit about the dispute with the anthropic and the department of war Basically, it just comes down
to targeting innocent civilians or the chance that the, because it's, what do they call it, a frontier model or whatever, it's still in its development stages so it can inadvertently target civilians and they want to put language...
In the contract that hamstrings the government and its use of or the implementation of targeting and then also to do with the mass surveillance of Americans.
So you're telling me that the first AI model that they're trying to adopt into the military is pretty much the equivalent of what we've seen in the Terminator.
would say if you pull back and think about grand strategies right what were we hearing in the weeks kind of leading up to this conflict about the escape this i think this is one of the companies that came out and said oh one of our frontier models It escaped and it was replicating itself and all that kind of like fear mongering that they're putting in and they wanted to slow it down.
All the Democrats are all moving in unison to shut AI down, like with bills, Bernie Sanders,
And I was like, OK, was that all to kind of get a hysteria? to then be able to put this implementation, because when you think about the implications of a private company dictating to our Pentagon how it can and cannot use a tool, a military tool, is sort of insane because there is no oversight.
And they're basically saying that the government has to, like a consumer, respect the terms of service, which is like, no,
I think the AI discussion is a little bit different because we're essentially dealing with new technology.
