Women's Education (The Rebbe)

In our last shiur, we began the lengthy discussion of women learning Torah, which was a major priority for the Fridik Rebbe and for our Rebbe.

It should continue to be a priority today, a major priority, as we saw yesterday.

We saw a letter from the Rebbe explaining just how much the Fridik Rebbe cared about women's education, which encouraged the Chassidim in Kfar Chabad to take it seriously and to get a girls' school off the ground.

We then saw something like seven or eight letters from the Fridik Rebbe.

It was a big Fridik Rebbe day.

where it was clear just how much he cared about women learning chassidus and women's education in general.

Today, we are shifting gears and looking at the Rebbe's position on women's education.

You probably won't be surprised to see that it's overwhelmingly positive.

It's the Rebbe, and obviously he's going to be in line with the Friedrich Rebbe.

But what you might be surprised to see is just how expansive it actually is.

The Rebbe really expands the idea of women's education.

And by the end of our discussion today, he's going to end up assigning women a list of a reading list that is about as long as the reading list that any man would have.

First, we're going to look at a few brief letters, and then we'll spend most of our time, Ymir Tza Hashem, on the rather lengthy Yechidus with the Belzer Rebbe from the 80s, I think 1981, and a sikha from 1990 that spells out very clearly, an edited sikha that spells out very clearly exactly what the Rebbe expects from women's education.
