Bais Yaakov

When I grew up, there were no, almost no books that were written for the from community.

For Yeshiva Bachrim, or Bais Yaakov girls, almost none.

And Baruch Hashem, today it's thanks to the influence of Art Scroll, we have a lot to give our children to read and to learn from.

Definitely true.

This strengthens the trust of a Jew in Hashem, even when he has difficulties in keeping Shabbos and keeping Yontif and educating his children in the way of Judaism.

They should learn in Yeshivas, in Beis Rivkah or Beis Yaakov or other Jewish institutions where they educate girls.

They should be kosher Jewish girls, especially we-- when we are in exile in the big city where Jews are surrounded by so many non-Jews, and it seems like the hoo-ha of the world can g- can, Ɣuchmanu d'slán, may Hashem preserve us, swallow Judaism, and it's hard to keep all this, et cetera.

So since Hashem commanded that on Shabbos a Jew has to be happy and not worry, so for sure Hashem blesses every Jew, every one of us, and every Jew wherever he may be, that he shouldn't need to make an effort to absolve himself from worry, because to begin with, there won't be any reasons for worry.

And I remember, I think, sharing that with people.

And then this voice from my Beis Yaakov upbringing was like, it's not about how it makes you feel.

If it's about how it makes you feel, then it's not service to God.

And I hear where that's coming from.

He was very, very, very upset about that.

And in Beis Yaakov in America, I saw a story that Baran said that Yiddish, they had a whole shale about this, said Yiddish is not Lashonka Yiddish, but it's a Shprach Chum Kadeshim.

The sprach that the Kedeshim spoke, I still brought it down, I don't know if it's true, in the Sefer Afec B'negev, page 97, it says that Reb Lezi Adolf Hinkle is makbid to speak Yiddish from after the war, lezeicher, the Kedeshim of the Holocaust.

Now, it happens to me there is a toast vote that says, in Kedushin, that says that if a man says if he said your daughter is without naming which daughter it's not the father doing it it's the other person doing it there it says we should assume that he meant the older daughter because of what Lavan says to Yaakov that we don't give away our younger daughters for our older daughters that sounds like there's an explicit Gemara that says that you have to do the older daughter first Rav Moshe says it can't be, because of all the reasons he's had until now, and this is somewhat characteristic of Rav Moshe Feinstein, that we tend to, that he tends to say, this is the way I understand it, and therefore this must be the way that it means it, and so he says it's got to be, he means that that this is the general way the world works, he doesn't mean literally that it's an obligation, he means that people assume this way, and since people assume That that's what's meant, that must be what they assumed, because they assumed that you'll marry off the older daughter first, and therefore what the other man said explicitly, said to the father, I'll take your daughter, he meant the older daughter.

Just because we assumed that he did, not because he's required to, and not because it would have been problematic had he intended the younger daughter.

But without any other evidence, that's what we would have assumed, that we generally married the older children off first.

And that would have all sorts of challenges to it because then their education would be coming from... people who didn't believe in the Torah, didn't believe in Hashem, etc.

So the government giving the right to teach kids in private schools is really a gift, Rav Moksha says.

And so therefore, if the father doesn't pay for the private Torah school, like a Bais Yaakov, to educate the daughter in the Bais Yaakov in the ways of Torah, where they'll teach her about what Jews believe, they'll teach her about how Jewish women in a girls' school, they'll teach her about how Jewish girls and women keep the Torah and keep mitzvot and are good children, servants of Hashem, like men are in parallel in the boys' schools.

If he doesn't do that, then he'll have to send her to public school.
