Text me your Questions! We welcome Einar Blackthorn, founder of The Common Hearth Community, to discuss his path into Norse Paganism and what healthy modern practice and community can look like…
Einar BlackthornGuestMattHostSo after those moments, you know, how has your, like, Norse Pagan path changed over the years going on that?

that?I initially approached being a pagan with an extreme amount of ego, and I, I, I walked into it thinking, "You know what? This is the shit.

I found where I could plant roots and feel good about something." And that feeling good about something bred an extreme, extreme degree of ego in me that I've basically very slowly been whittling away through, whittling away for the past 11 years and just learning to be absolutely humble about it.

I forget who it was on TikTok, but there was one quote that was said that absolutely stuck with me for the longest time.
Sure

the, the quote stuck out to essentially say, "Why not just admit you're nobody? Why not just admit that in the grand scheme of things, you are absolutely nothing and go with the flow?"
Interesting you s-
... said that.
I just don't mean to interrupt you here, but, um, I was driving my wife yesterday.
She's Christian.
And I put on a Casting Crowns song, and it was about that same message that, you know, you are nobody.
You know, and consider that like a baseline, a foundation of building up yourself.
Don't, you know, start at this high ego and have to whittle away.
You know, start at that nobody level, that foundation, and then build yourself up with who you are, is like a, a message that I, I took from that song.
I threw the rest away, but that was a really interesting parallel.
