Lord's Prayer

The fourth Glorious Mystery is the Assumption.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

Oh my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy.

The fifth Glorious Mystery is the Coronation of Mary as Queen of Heaven and Earth.

The first Luminous Mystery is the baptism of Jesus.

The spiritual fruit of this mystery is openness to the Holy Spirit.

So that was kind of like the memorization and repetitive nature.

And then for lay people who couldn't read or memorize the Psalms, like a simpler devotion emerged where they would pray 150 Our Fathers instead of 150 Psalms.

And then they would use like beads or knots to keep count.

And then like they named the beat, like they were the Our Father beads.

I desire to do thy will.

And in all things, whether they be pleasing or painful, let us always have in our mouths that petition of the Pater Noster.

Thy will be done.

Let us frequently repeat it in that day with all the affection of our hearts.

Oh, what a misery to see so many fathers and mothers who are unable to instruct their children in the most necessary truths of the faith, and who, instead of sending their sons and daughters to the Christian doctrine and festivals, employ them in messages or in other occupations of a little moment.

And when grown up, they know not what is meant by mortal sin, by hell, or eternity.

They do not even know the creed, the Pater Noster, the Hail Mary, which every Christian is bound to learn under pain of mortal sin.

Religious parents not only instruct their children in these things, which are the most important, but they also teach them the acts which ought to be made every morning after rising.

Well, today we are going to hear that author and pastor Matt Smallbone, well, he's dealt with the same struggles and questions and he did something radical.

You're not going to believe this, but he prayed the Lord's Prayer every single day for an entire year.

Yes.

He's going to tell you how it turned out, how it changed his life, and what he learned that you can even apply today to help you grow.

And also, oh, it's going to get even better because worship leader, musician, songwriter, my friend, Michael O'Brien, he's going to sing the Lord's Prayer over us.
