Want A Dream Team? Find Out Where You Fit First. A Conversation on Team Building With Adam James

All right, here we go.

Nathan has a question for you.

He wonders when it's no longer Caesar's, and his question is a one-sentence shorty.

So John, let's see how you do with this one.

When should Christians and patriots refuse to pay taxes?

So thanks for the question, Nathan.

I think there was a little bit of a tongue-in-cheek joke going on with Jesus.

He was confronted by the Pharisees.

Was it Pharisees?

I think it

was Pharisees who were trying to trip him up.

And so it's kind of like the religious rulers.

Hey, man, should we pay taxes to Caesar or not? So they're trying to trip him up.

And he says, hey, bring me a denarii.

It's a Roman coin.

Whose picture is on this? And it's Caesar's picture on it.

And Jesus says, well, give to Caesar what's Caesar's and give to the Lord's what is the Lord's.

Now, this was amazing because he didn't tell them to not give all money to Caesar.

All the Roman money had Caesar's inscription, all money is Caesar's.

And that seemed to be what Jesus is saying.

I'm like, yeah, but Caesar and the world and all that is in it is of the Lord's.

And so it was a wonderful way to give them almost a non-answer.

It's like the answer itself begs a much deeper question, and that's ownership.

Who owns the world? Is it Caesar or is it the Lord? Give accordingly.

Because they walked away saying, ah, he give to Caesar what Caesar's.
