My rant about the upcoming season of Utah Football and why Ute fans can relax and expect a good, conference contending team. I answer questions/concerns raised by the fanbase about the defense…
First thing I want to talk about, first concern that people brought up, is player retention, especially in this new world of college football, the transfer portal and NIL.
So as far as the transfer portal goes for Utah, 26 players left this offseason, and we gained 18 players from the portal.
However, only five, one, two, three, four, five of those 26 players were starters.
It's not that many, obviously.
Super, super important pieces for Utah football.
Really sad to see those guys go.
Really, really heartbreaking to see guys like them kind of move on, but good for them also.
Getting more opportunities.
That's just kind of how college football is now.
If you think about it, at this point, it's going to happen no matter what.
Players are going to leave every year, and it sucks.
It does to see players like that go, but Players also transfer to your school.
I think the University of Utah has benefited more than they've lost from the transfer portal.
I think of players like Cameron Rising, Devin Dampier, Wayshawn Parker, Jaquinden Jackson, and...
Guys that really...
Even though that season didn't work out, he is now an NFL receiver.
Or, you know, he was an NFL receiver.
So guys like that, super...
And, you know, another thing I want to bring up with this retention is you think about other schools that have lost head coaches other than Utah in college football.
