Kyle Whittingham

You've got a quarterback who is, let's just say, not the strongest when it comes to throwing the forward pass.

And if you're Kyle Whittingham, in this spot, are you gonna wanna run Bryce Underwood as much as you did against Oklahoma?

No, he's not gonna run him as much.

My worry would be this.

Let this guy use his athletic ability.

I don't know how coaches can be with these players through spring, summer, and fall and not realize that they have to call plays to the strengths of the quarterback.

Did you see what Kyle Whittingham said yesterday? I regret that we didn't make Bryce Underwood more of a runner in the game against Western Michigan.

We blew it.

You go to Michigan.

And seeing how there's been two sides to Michigan in week one and week two, couldn't beat Western Michigan, but they certainly could be Oklahoma, right? Now, obviously they added the second on against Western Michigan, but when Michigan team is gonna look different, well, I'm gonna trust that the Kyle Whittingham led team in late November is going to be coached up and very physical, and the Bruins are going to have to match up.

And those last few matchups against a Kyle Whittingham-led Utah for UCLA haven't gone so well.

And while I do think the physicality is there, it's solid.

And then you host USC, which I'm always going to say, smack that bootay and beat the Trojans.

I don't mean to

say the guy's falling, but, you know, they lose that game after not looking great against Boise State, and then he kind of loses his cool yesterday trying to defend Dante Moore, and I'll be very curious to see if Dante Moore – he's on script or if he's like, what are you talking about? And Bryce Underwood was like, oh, I didn't hear that from Kyle Whittingham.

Clearly there was a disconnect there.

I'm curious to see how this plays out because I think it's very convenient for us in the media and fans elsewhere to make the analogy of like, well, someone's got to be this year's Penn State.

They're going to get a lucky touchdown.

When their coach comes out, when Whittingham comes out and says, hey...

We had to change everything.

It's like, what did you see all summer long that made you all of a sudden from week one, hey, maybe we're doing this wrong.

Whether he's going to get to it or not, and when he does, is the whole conversation.

But he has all the tools.

But as he's currently constituted, Whittingham comes out and goes, we had a bad game plan for him week one.

What is that? That you asked him to play quarterback? So now your game plan is we're going to run him 18 times.

I agree.

Which, did you see, and I'm sure like every game has these now, did you see the one of Whittingham knocking out Venables after the game?

Yeah.

Because somebody said, oh, my gosh, I'm going to post this to Facebook, and the Facebook crowd is going to go insane because they're totally going to believe that it's true.

Give me Michigan.

Give me Josh Eiffel against Kyle Whittingham.

Give me Faison Brandon against what they're doing in Ann Arbor with Bryce Underwood.

Yeah, look, I'd love to be able to catch up with my dude, Matt Campbell.

They have everything in front of them as well.

And, you know, I trust Kyle Whittingham as a coach much more than I trust Michigan's old coach, Sharon Moore.

So I expect Michigan to be in the mix.

And that was a big win for them.

Kind of ironic.

Just thinking about it as I'm talking here, you have Iowa playing Michigan with Kyle Whittingham as the head coach and Iowa state's playing Utah where Kyle Whittingham used to be.

I, I'm sure there was no people trying to create ties that bind there, just kind of an ironic twist in the schedule there.

But we'll hear a little bit from Jimmy Rogers later on in the program as well.
