Well, I've got the task of launching this, so I'm going to just kick off into some background and some context and just talk about the author for a minute and some really interesting stuff about the audience of the Hebrews.

They believe that the audience of the Hebrews could potentially have been written to 15 to 20 people in a home gathering.

Can you believe that? You know, we read this book and we just think, oh my goodness, it's written to, you know, just huge scope of people.

Imagine if you're in your home gathering and you got 13 chapters of the book of Hebrews sent to you from the Lord.

It was written just for 15 to 20 people who were part of a network of house churches who probably then passed that around.

But I want us to be so excited that, you know, God didn't write this to us, but he wrote it for us.

So why don't we actually look at it and think, well, if he wrote it for me, then I should read it like those first century Christians were reading it.

You know, the word Hebrew is first mentioned in the Bible in the book of Genesis, Genesis 14 verse 13, and it says this, "'Then one who had escaped came and told Abram the Hebrew.'" Abram later becomes Abraham.

In Genesis chapter 12, the covenant is given to Abraham that he will be a blessing to the nations.

Because I don't know about you, but when I was sort of starting to read the Bible a lot more, I remember ringing my mentor and saying, I don't get it.
