Uh, yeah.

But with that organization might come a lot of anxiety.

You know? And it could be OCD, or there could be some other things behind that.

So it's like everyone has their own battle, or everyone has their own life that they're just trying to navigate.

So comparing yourself to other people, I think, is just a waste of time.

Yeah

... "Have you heard this? Have you heard that?" I think I could have OCD, 'cause you have it, and I think I may have got it.

I, it genuinely causes me a real lot of upset.

And it's sat on my wing mirror, and its private part is just dangling over.

And, you know, there was a lot of profanity, of course, and a lot of threats.

But one of the things that he said about his wife is that parenthood had been unbearable for him because his wife was so OCD and how very dare she expect him to buckle the car seat incorrectly.

And I just sort of laughed at this guy like telling on himself in this email that was supposed to be like an attack on me and an attack on his wife.

But what it got me thinking about is this thing that just leaves me incandescent with rage.

Yeah.

And we suggest to her that, like, maybe she's a little bit OCD and maybe she needs to lower her standards.

And, you know, there's always the advice of, like, go on strike.

Just don't do it.

I'm OCD, and I just like to unpack and go back to normal activity because I'm mobile and

I'm in and out of town a lot.

Like for example, PANS is Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Syndrome.

So where the immune system is reacting to a trigger like strep or mycoplasma and creating antibodies that then cross over into the brain and inflame and affect the basal ganglia that then result in either behavioral symptoms like aggression or excessive behavior or school regression or emotional issues like anxiety like restrictive eating or OCD or extreme anxiety or separation anxiety but it's it's the antibodies to the infection that is now having this autoimmune process in the brain so there's lots of triggers there's a lot of things that can then happen on the body a lot of cytokines can be released a lot of histamine can be released and we've got these beautiful ways of of of communicating through the vagus nerve, through chemicals in the brain like cytokines or histamine that then inflame different parts of the brain.

And depending on where that inflammation is hitting the brain, we then see symptoms like anxiety, depression, fatigue, brain fog.

But it's not one thing.

Both his ASO and his strep DNAs were highly positive.

He had lots of inflammatory markers.

And we treated this child with extreme OCD with antibiotics.

Yes, we used a little SSRI as well, but he had come to me without that being effective.

I haven't really had too many clients go, did you struggle with OCD or do you have significant traumas? It's kind of like, hey, do you know how to help me with this? Great.

But from the addiction side, The vast majority in the first session or during the initial call will ask, have you had addiction? Have you struggled with something? People really want the clinician to have experienced that more so than, hey, have you ever had breast cancer, doctor? You know what I'm about to go through? Or have you ever had severe depression? It's usually not a question clients ask from an addiction standpoint.
