Marc Stein and Tim Legler break down Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors’ winning streak, Steph’s rejuvenated play and Yaxel Lendeborg’s impact alongside a productive supporting cast. They…
How about it? So I texted my colleague, my on-air partner, Richard Jefferson, early in the year when the Warriors were 0-3 out of the gate.
And I was really fearful of that because I'm thinking to myself, they're waiting on Jimmy Butler.
I mean, they're saying February, but who knows when that's actually going to be and who knows what that's actually going to look like.
So if that's like their saving grace, like their big card they're going to play late in the year, I just think there's a lot of uncertainty there.
And I looked at the rest of the roster and it just didn't seem like there was a lot that they did that on paper going into the year gave them a lot of extra juice from somewhere where you go, okay, yeah, this is going to be the last few years of Steph Curry's career.
So that was heading into the season, and then they lose to the Lakers by 22 out of the gate.
Then they lose to Memphis, which at the time – You didn't know Memphis was going to have this incredibly hot start.
You're like, Memphis is going to be one of the bottom feeders, I thought, in the Western Conference.
So it turns out, you know what, that wasn't such a bad loss to Memphis early in the year.
So they're 0-3, and I'm going, man, they've got Denver, Minnesota, the Lakers coming up.
They're sitting here at six and three, and it's actually a really high-quality brand of basketball that they're playing.
