Draymond Green

Mitch Johnson, head coach of the San Antonio Spurs, I'm not putting the blame all on him, but his inability to get Wemby the ball in those moments cost the Spurs a championship.

I think I can say if it was a Pistons 0-4 or a Celtics 0-8 type defensive team, the 15 Warriors with Bogut and a defensive player of the year, and Draymond Green, and you have Clay Thompson, who was a 3 and D type player, I'd say, well, that's the defense.

But with all due respect to New York, Carl Anthony Towns really did embrace that role.

But you got to be able to figure out a way for Wemby to get the ball to the basket when Carl Anthony Towns is guarding, or Bridges, or any of those guys.

You have Klay, who barely needs to dribble at all to score 20 points.

You have Draymond, who doesn't need to score to control a game because he's just this fantastic playmaking hub.

And then you have KD, who can efficiently generate his own shot against basically any coverage from basically anywhere.

And then you have Iguodala, an enormously accomplished player coming off the bench.

And that's why adding Durant didn't require Curry to stop being Curry.

It didn't require Klay to stop being Klay.

It didn't require Draymond to become something greater or less than he wasn't.

Durant came in, filled the spaces that already existed while creating entirely new ones.

Like, you've got two centers, and they're both very injury-prone and old.

I think you're going to have to play a lot of Draymond Green at the five, but I don't think he can hold up in that anymore.

He's done an amazing job, and I feel like he's still probably a top 20 defender in the NBA, but he's 6'6", 6'7".

I think that there have been some very interesting takes on kind of the situation, the specifics of the situation, but also sort of bigger picture type stuff.

And I don't listen to his podcast much, but there were some clips going around from Draymond Green's show after the Clippers got punished where he was talking about like, you know, how owners like he's like talking about like owners like Steve Ballmer is like, if you guys hate the salary cap so much, then get rid of it.

And I have a note here that if the Clippers were funneling additional money to Kawhi, they were not only circumventing the team cap rules, but also the rules about max contracts.

So it's a little different in the DeAndre Jordan case because he was not a player that was going to get a max contract, right? He was going to get whatever DeAndre Jordan made in 2015.

And the NBA is now built for not to have the money for it.

You're not going to see the Kevin Durant, Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, Steph Curry, Andre Iguodala.

You're not going to see a team like that anymore because the NBA wanted to get away from the super team era.

That's why Wemby being able to not take exactly the most amount of money is key.

but he's kind of like the glue.

He's like the good Draymond Green.

He's like Draymond Green if he was nice and you liked him.
