JBCH: Furious 7 (James Wan)

I mean, I guess I'm sure a lot of people already are aware, Mike, but I guess set the table with your feelings about Fast and then your feelings about this movie in particular.

Sure.

I have a long history with this franchise.

I mean, I saw the first one opening day in the theaters, and I thought it was fine.

I thought it was good.

Yeah.

But I really liked Too Fast, Too Furious.

But then I kind of just – it became with three and four, it was this franchise that was – it was fine.

It was entertaining.

It was enjoyable.

But it wasn't anything that I really ever thought too much about.

But then Fast Five came out.

And that was a game changer for me, I thought.

And I thought what we got then between 5, 6, and 7 that we're going to be talking about today is, for me, about as perfect of an action movie trilogy as you could possibly ask for.

And then it has proceeded, for reasons that we will talk about, I'm sure, the big one being the death of Paul Walker, it has proceeded to drive straight off a cliff into what I find to be borderline unwatchable garbage.

And so this one, part of the reason I really wanted to talk about this one, when you asked me which one I wanted, is this is...

A, I was a big Paul Walker fan, even outside of the Fast and Furious franchise.

I loved him in Varsity Blues.

I just generally liked him as an actor.

And he was the reason I really liked this franchise so much, above and beyond all the cool action stuff.

And so this movie has a lot of personal sort of investment, emotional investment.

But also for me, it feels like the end of the franchise.

I have said on record numerous times, I feel like this is where it should have ended.

There's nothing left for me to get out of the Fast and Furious franchise after this movie.

So, you know, that's why this is my favorite of the series, even though I wouldn't argue it's the best.
