śravaṇam mananam nididhyāsanam Listen, reflect and absorb.
Dear listener, Sairam and welcome to our radio series in which a divine discourse by Bhagawan is played in small parts and following each part, a short discussion is undertaken to reflect on the message.
This was part of Radio Sai's Thursday Live hosted by Prem and Sai Prakash from Sri Sathya Sai Media Centre.
Dear listener, the discourses that are taken of a study in this program are from the series of discourses on the theme Bhaja Govindam.
Good evening.
Mananam Titidhyasanam
Offering our most loving pranams at Bhagawan's Lotus Feet.
Dear listeners, we welcome you to another episode of Shravanam Mananam Nididhyasnam, a program through which we go through the 1973 summer course, the set of discourses that Swami gave on the work Bhajagovindam.
We've completed 12 discourses.
We are in the 13th discourse, in the end of the 13th discourse.
We should be able to complete this one today.
As we've seen throughout the series, each one of these discourses are very, very valuable for the journey of a sadhaka.
And each one of them speak of very important qualities that one has to develop.
And in this particular discourse, the title of the discourse itself is Detachment gives peace even amidst troubles and this is about detachment.
The analogy that's being used here is that of a lotus flower.
Swami spoke about how the lotus flower is similar to the Jivatma and it comes from the pond which is the Jivatattva is the lotus flower and the pond is that of Atmatattva itself.
Speaking about detachment, Swami made two points that were very important.
Initially, Swami said that perfect detachment comes only with the recognition of the Atma Tattva.
Only when you recognize that the same Lord is present in every entity and every individual that one comes across, that is when there cannot be attachment or even dislike towards anyone.
And that is the perfect state of detachment.
But having said that, as we move towards that perfect detachment, how does one progress in that journey? And that is what this discourse is about, the many points that Swami gives.
And the beautiful thing about this particular discourse are the many stories that Swami has narrated, trying to bring about the understanding of the topic.
But before we give you a short summary of what we have covered so far in this discourse, let's invite Brother Sai Prakash to join all of us.
