In 1956, a gentleman by name Theodore Shea, a Jew from America, comes to India and writes a book called Lokamanya on Tilak.

And he begins by saying, I'm astounded to see a constitution like this still prevailing in India.

He says it is the most un-Indian constitution that you can ever have.

But the name of Balagangadhar Tilak will be a little longer.

What is the reason? In the attempt to translate our holy Vedas, the name of Balagangadhar Tilak was able to stand a little longer.

Slowly and steadily, the names of people who have only the objective of serving the country disappear from our minds.

But in the case of these three, the one Balagangadhar Tilak has stood for a little longer time because in addition to whatever service he had done to the country, he had also attempted to understand the divine, translate the Vedas and so on.

Jinnah served as secretary to Naoroji and wrote parts of his speech, which not only called for Swaraj or self-government, but also promoted Hindu-Muslim unity.

However, by the time National Congress members met at Surat in Gujarat for the 1907 session, A split opened up between the moderates represented by Naoroji and Jinnah, who supported self-government within the British Empire, and the faction led by Bal Gangadhar Tilak, who demanded full independence.

When Tilak was arrested in 1908, following a British crackdown, Jinnah agreed to defend him at his trial.
