Blavatsky insisted she alone could contact these secretive beings.

According to Blavatsky, new revelations arrived from the Hidden Masters, or the Mahatmas, who belonged to the Great White Brotherhood.

These entities were semi-divine, had Indian names, and dwelt in the mountains of Tibet.

The masters taught Blavatsky that all religions contained truth.

I have been chosen to bring in a convert, and you were the convert selected for me by the Mahatmas of the Consolidated Trust Company." That is the universe like we are.

Well, and that's exactly what the Mahatmas or the adepts, like the spiritual masters will say is that, look, everything that we can do, dude, if you read some of these fucking books, they are crazy.

Especially if you look into theosophy and Rosicrucianism and all that kind of stuff, you hear about these adepts that are able to achieve these insane superpowers.

The Buddhists will call them cities, but basically like these superpowers of materializing objects out of thin air, Or, you know, the crazier, like, even crazier abilities of out-of-body experiences and levitation and all this stuff.

"What happened? Swamiji, he gets up at the morning at three thirty, and then he sits there and goes, 'Aum.'" Is that what meditation is about? You wake up everybody else.

I said, "It's about awakening." [laughs] There's another man who once came up to this Mahatma and told this Mahatma that, "You know why I don't like you Mahatmas? I don't like all these satsangs." He said, "Why? What happened? What's wrong with it?" He said, "I don't know.

What you all teach this meditation and all that." He said, "What happened?" He said, "This colleague of mine went and did this meditation course.

Now every time he comes to office and he's sitting there and meditating.

So things like karma, reincarnation, spiritual evolution...

And there's this idea of the hidden masters, what the theosophy called the Mahatmas.

This draws from ancient wisdom traditions, and it mixes in modern, or at the time, modern clairvoyance, their own esoteric knowledge and dictionaries and teachings and workings that they did.

So this was a place, actually, Cretona, that they set up as their own little Thelema town, I guess, or commune.

They live the life of the soul, not of the self, and thus they prove to us the ultimate truth of humanity.

We call them Mahatmas, the men of the great soul.

It is said in one of the Upanishads, "Na vaare putrasya kamaaya putraha priyo bhavati.

Atmanastu kamaaya putraha priyo bhavati." That is, "It is not that thou lovest thy son because thou desirest him, but thou lovest thy son because thou desirest thine own soul." The meaning of this is that whomsoever we love, in him we find our own soul in the highest sense.
