“Prudence or Pragmatism?” - 1 Samuel 27:-28:2 - Pastor Stuart Sanders

Well, I told you last week we were going to do a one-off, but then Louie said he wanted to break his up into two.

So I'm going ahead and just following 1 Samuel's plan.

So we're in 1 Samuel 27.

We're going to be 27-1, but we're going to sneak into chapter 28, verses 1 and 2.

So we're going to follow along here with...

the story and the life of David with a little bit of Saul mixed in.

But today is going to be David.

And this text, it presents itself, at least to me, as somewhat unnatural.

just unfantastic.

There's nothing really that's big there.

I've read it several times.

I'm sure all of you have read it many times and you're like, oh yeah.

But then when I started engaging with the text, but then engaging with men who had written on the text, I'm like, man, there is a whole lot here.

It becomes eminently practical.

And you saw the title.

I'm never really proud of any of the titles and I'm not proud of this one, but the title of prudence or pragmatism.
