Leaving NAR & charismatic teachings isn’t easy. Much of what we believed wasn’t what it seemed, and sometimes it’s hard to know where to start. You ask a lot of questions, and that’s a good thing…
Now, I'm just gonna read it out, and we're gonna have to deal with this one in parts.
It says, "There is a lot you say about the NAR that I actually agree with, but you keep repeating the phrase, quote, 'biblical teaching,' unquote.
Can you show me any chapter or verse in the Bible that says the gifts of the Holy Spirit have ended? Not a theory, not a church tradition, not a theological system, an actual verse.
And along with that, where does the Bible teach that the Holy Spirit comes to a person simply by reading scripture? Because every example I see in the New Testament shows the Holy Spirit coming through an encounter, infilling, laying on of hands, prayer, repentance, and faith in Christ, not by reading a text alone.
If we're gonna talk about biblical teaching, then let's be consistent and let the Bible speak for itself.
If the Holy Spirit is received by reading the Bible, there should be a clear verse.
Maybe the issue is that some people are uncomfortable with supernatural parts of the Bible that have never stopped." Okay.
Uh, there's a few things on this one, so I wanted to answer it here, because I'm just trying to think, and you know, I do a lot of this off the cuff.
I usually have some bullet points and talk, and, and if I think that I said something that's way, way off, my wife can pull it out, or once in a while, people correct me.
I did a video, and, uh, I said this guy was, uh, that Dideo, but he's the one with the beard, and it was a clean cut or a clean-shaven guy.
When I tried to get the name of this guy, uh, the [laughs] YouTube AI kept telling me that's who it was, and I was like, "That doesn't seem right." It's hard for me to keep track.
But I misspoke and said the wrong name, and somebody corrected me in the comments, so I appreciate that.
And, uh, but on this one, when I was going through the question- It's in many parts, so we're gonna have to go back through some of this.
It says, uh, "Can you show me chapter and verse in the Bible that says the gifts of the Holy Spirit have ended?" Uh, no, I can't, because there isn't one.
