So I don't actually remember what I told you in the last episode around getting found by clients and stuff like that, but there are two things that I wanna share with you.

If I've already mentioned it, this is just gonna be a quick refresher for you.

Um, if it's, if I- if it's too short for you and y- you're just hearing it for the first time, listen to, uh, Saturday's episode.

And, uh, i- in case you didn't know, um, HubSpot is a very popular, very famous platform for CRM, marketing, all those kinds of things.

Anyhoo, um, yeah, so all of the research basically is showing now that of all the traffic that's coming over to websites of experts with SEO, the quality of, of the traffic is very, very low.

Most of the people that will visit your website generally aren't gonna do anything.

We already know this, right? If you've been listening to this show for a while, if you've ever worked with me, if you've ever done any of my courses, then you already know the numbers, and the numbers are that a conversion on a really, really, really, really good website is only ever about 2%.

So that means, you know, for every 100 people that come over, 98 aren't gonna do anything, and of the two that do take an action, they're usually going to, according to the latest data, just grab your free stuff and not do anything else.

So this is different to, I guess, a, a few years ago when SEO was king, and it was all about you've gotta have all the right words in the right places on your website so that you come up on the first page.

First page of Google is, you know, the best 10 answers to the user's question.

But that's all been, I was gonna say like obliterated, and that's very dramatic, isn't it? [laughs] Um, it's all changed because in, you know, halfway through 2024, Google introduced the AI summary, and the AI summary now goes and looks at your website and everybody else's website and builds a summary, interprets it all, interprets all of the information that we're all putting out there, puts it together in a little paragraph or two for the user, and if you're lucky and your website does a fantastic job of giving the right information, then what's gonna happen is you go in the running to be one of the three to be referenced or cited in that AI summary.

And that's where you wanna be because the research alsh- also shows now that an overwhelming percentage of people, in excess of 80% of people, just don't scroll down through that list of 10 blue links anymore.

They're all just using the recommendations in that initial AI summary, and they're trusting them.

Um, but the other thing is that's only if somebody chooses to click because they want some more information, right? So let's say they get the question answered by the AI summary.

Then what's happening is they're not going to your website at all 'cause they don't need to now.

So this is what companies like HubSpot and Ahrefs and Google are all reporting on at the moment, and it's very interesting because it's opening up a lot of dialogue around, "Okay, well, what does this mean for business?" I think this is very important too because, um- I think we've always had such a focus on the website, but now we need to be focusing on what has to change in terms of not only our website, but our whole entire marketing.
