Reflections on Deep Purple Tour PLUS an Encore of Simon McBride’s 2022 Interview

And you were there, and you were there, and you were there.

That's how it should feel, folks.

When you come off a great tour with your band or a group of three bands like I just did, you should kind of feel like Dorothy at the end of Wizard of Oz.

Like, did that really happen? What manner of incredible energies in the universe came together to make those 25 shows or whatever it is all across Canada and some of the states, in our case, this last tour? happen.

What brought that all together? Was it even real? Because you know what? You won't always get to do it no matter who you are.

Even Paul McCartney might have some moments where he's traveling somewhere and just thinking that it's so great that I get to do this.

It won't be forever.

That's kind of how I felt somewhere.

We were cruising through Canada.

We just did a bunch of shows with Deep Purple in Kansas.

And of course, Simon McBride is the lead guitar player of Deep Purple.

We're going to dive into his appearance on this podcast from, I mean, from the first tour that I did with Deep Purple.

This was the third one.

But in 2022, we're going to dive into that episode and hear it again coming up.

Even if you heard it the first time, I recommend hearing it again.

There's so much to it.

But as I was saying, I had one of those moments.

I was sitting in the back of the tour bus just thinking, this is magical, you know? This won't be forever.

This is an opportunity.

No matter who you are, no matter what musician you are, you're lucky when you have those moments that you get to do it, whatever capacity.

that the world has come together in some kind of configuration to allow you to go crank up an amp and release your soul so yes we just got off the road with kansas and deep purple mostly all over canada which was magical starting way over in halifax that's i would say the most easterly i've ever been on the continental north america And we've made it all the way over to Vancouver and dropped down to the Shoreline Amphitheater in San Francisco for the final show.

which was magical for me just because home turf.

I mean, I live in LA for the last 17 years, but that's where I grew up is the Bay area to have a bunch of homies come out.

And also people that I know that work there come out or everyone's there, you know, just like it was the total hometown kind of feeling gig.
