Rev and Reed sit down with Average Gary, organizer of the Shenandoah Bitcoin Club, to talk about why he moved his meetup to a low-pressure Saturday "Bitcoin brunch," how consistency built it into a…
Average GaryGuestReedHostRev HodelHostAnd I guess the question really is like, what is the revolution? And in my opinion, we talk about games a little bit on the show or a lot on the show, I guess.
And really, when I talk about game, it's like a game is a way of simplifying a thing down to better understand it.
And then once you understand it, you can take what you've learned and then apply it.
more broadly to the actual effective usage of that understanding.
And so like what Bitcoin, I think is teaching us is that there, this is a working model of a consensus based governance system.
And so, um, that's the game, right? Bitcoin is the game of like proving like, yes, this, this governance through consensus is possible.
And then that leads, once the revolution happens, then that leads to, um, this Renaissance.
Right.
And so, um, What Bitcoin Veterans sounds like it's doing is it's taking this idea of like, okay, so nobody's actually in charge here.
And how can that even manifest? And I think it comes down to that base level understanding like, okay, we understand Bitcoin.
This means that we understand what it is to operate via consensus versus having some top-down central authority dictating all the things that are going on.
and that's the game.
And then once you get that, then you get all these group chats going on, and that leads to manifestations of the revolution happening in this peaceful way, right? In Georgia, they're like, actively acting you know teaching bitcoin to the universities and stuff like that's that's what leads to the growth of it and i think this is the first time in history um in recorded history and i've been trying to verify this with my clanker as much as i can it's enough it's more of a a feeling that i have rather than a truth let's say but i think this is probably the first time where um a changeover of the way that society is managed and operated.
Instead of coming from one central point, like an empire dominating, moving through from one border to the next to the next and expanding outwards from a central point, this is like many bubbles of this, like many little fires starting at one point, and they're all expanding and burning out into each other to then eventually it's going to be the whole world that this thing is encompassing.
I don't really have a follow-up question there, but I just, responding, you know, listening to you talk about the veterans, it's kind

You know, we just saw recently that you can just launch a soft and then hard fork of the network if you want.

You will suffer the consequences if you're wrong, right? But the taking the initiative and also the enablement that Bitcoin offers you because...

you can chill, you can wait it out for having to having and wait for the basement to make the NGU.

And during that time, you can figure out where you're going to deploy those sats, right? So like one of the examples I always like to highlight is when 250,000 sats can pay off my house, I'll do it, right? But similarly, I also have other plans and allocations of sats where I think about, okay, If a million sats can bootstrap a business or, you know, I started a business that Reid mentioned before, I sold in some meshtastics.
