In One Ear, Out The Other! (with Chloe Smith)

This week on the podcast, Abby is joined by former *Dance Moms* competitor Chloe Smith, who appeared on seasons 5 through 7 representing Cathy’s Candy Apples as one of the ALDC’s fiercest rivals. Chloe shares the untold story of how her journey with the show actually began years earlier, revealing that she had been auditioning for *Dance Moms* since 2012 and even danced alongside the ALDC behind the scenes at a competition in Pittsburgh long before fans officially saw her on television. She opens up about finally getting the life-changing call that she would be joining the show, and the complicated emotions that came with realizing she’d be competing against Abby — someone she had admired, trained with behind the scenes, and idolized for years. From intense competition days to the pressure of reality TV drama, Chloe reflects on the experience that changed her life forever. Chloe also revisits one of the most talked-about moments from her time on the show, when a personal insecurity unexpectedly became the center of attention during a heated competition episode. For the first time, she reveals the behind-the-scenes details viewers never knew and shares how that moment truly affected her both on and off camera. Despite the challenges, Chloe looks back on her experience with gratitude and discusses where dance has taken her since leaving the show — from training with the Arizona Ballet, to dancing for the Arizona Rattlers while in college, and now pursuing her next dream by auditioning for the NFL. Plus, Chloe reflects on her relationship with Abby today, the lessons she learned from the competitive dance world, and what fans would be most surprised to know about life behind the scenes of *Dance Moms*.
