William Leonard PickardHostWhat historical figure would make the best startup founder? Who do you think?

So I guess you're assuming this is a historical figure who's not a business founder?

So I guess someone who wasn't a business founder, maybe this is more just me projecting my personal heroes, but I always think one of the greatest figures of the 20th century in maybe human history is Deng Xiaoping, the leader of China after the death of Mao, who really took this communist backwater that had just destroyed China all learning and productive activity for a decade and decimated a people.

And my family and a lot of my peers are all beneficiaries of his wisdom and his determination and his agency.

And I think someone like him, if you were a founder, I mean, if he could really build the world's largest nation into what it is now, from facing extreme adversity, I feel like he could be a good founder.

He was very sharp, very quick with it, and very diligent, working tirelessly till he was, I think, 93 when he passed, maybe.
My son just went to China with several of his neuroscience buddies, grads at Boulder.
And deep into China, he would write back, China is ahead of the United States.
