I have been reflecting on this and trying to understand the implications of what's happening in this prayer that Paul is praying.

The goal here, yeah, is multifaceted, but one goal here is that we need to get to the point where we what, everybody? Where we comprehend, okay? That's what we're trying to do.

That's what Paul wants them to get to, to the point, to the mental state where they're able to comprehend, okay? Comprehend, to perceive.

What other words come to your mind when you think of the word to comprehend? Understand, grasp, and you'll see that word come up here in a second, right? To understand.

Now, when I think of the word comprehension, I think of the words you guys mentioned, understand, to grasp.

I think comprehension makes me think that this is an intellect issue, right? Dude, you don't understand this? What am I saying? Like, you're not getting, right? It's an intellect issue, right? It is something in the realm of the mind, right? It's something pointing to mental ability, comprehension.

Cause you have like sophisticated notions of love more than I do, right? You've been primed.

Comprehension, what type of mental horsepower, intellectual horsepower are you running on? And then we have the mushy stuff, love, which in our culture often is the exact, these two are exact opposites, right? Now, the reason I found this interesting in the passage is because pay attention to what he's saying.

I am praying that you will be rooted and grounded in the mushy stuff so that, okay, and I know depending on your translation, right? Sometimes they just so that, but that you get into the mushy stuff so that you may be able to what? Get to the mushy stuff so that you can amp up your intellectual horsepower.

That's kind of weird, right? That's kind of like, what? Yes or no? Am I the only one? What does that mean? In what sense does comprehension of the realities of God, in what sense is that only possible if to those who are rooted and grounded in that stuff, right? In what sense? What is the relationship between these two? Because read it in the negative, you ready? Read it in the negative.

Unless you are rooted and grounded in this, you simply will not comprehend, right? The prayer is also a warning, yes? What's happening here is interesting because he's drawing on rooted, rooted, rooted and grounded.
