Kourtney is joined by Justin to recap their new chapter this baseball season with the Tijuana Toros. Justin details his offseason experience and what it was like getting the call to play in Mexico in…
Well, [chuckles] how'd it come to be? Um, it came from a lack of other opportunities, I guess.
I didn't think that I would go into this season and have anything be guaranteed to me.
Like, I was fully anticipating, like, okay, probably have to go somewhere and earn a place on a team.
But I never in a million years would have thought that I wouldn't have got a single offer, minor league, non-roster invite, anything to any team.
I think, yeah, I mean, again, it's like the last year, I would say it was the drinking challenge, that if you went up to the plate and they mentioned your age, do a shot, and you would be absolutely annihilated by the end of the game.
And I think we're always in a situation where we don't ever expect anything, and we never know what's going to happen, but this was definitely one of those more baffling situations where I thought, "Did you make someone mad? Did you [chuckles] did something going on?" Uh, and then, yeah, as spring training started to wind down, we're thinking, "Okay, there's gonna..." Normally, there's a bunch of movement as rosters settle and, and all of that happens, and then that didn't happen.
And I think we were both realizing that you were gonna look elsewhere, and wanted you to look elsewhere, 'cause you still wanted to play.
I just sum up the off-season as wanting to find an opportunity to play, and not knowing what that was gonna look like, and just trying to make that happen.
