Toros de Tijuana

But the league that happens during the MLB season is their main league.

And the Toros de Tijuana won.

They won over the Olmecas de Tabasco.

We talked about this a little bit last week.

That tracks for sure.

Sure.

This was also the first year that the Toros de Tijuana sold jersey with players' names.

And the article that I saw, I don't know if this is an official stat, said 98% of them were Turner fans.

And the Mets have gotten played.

And the thing about that spot the Mets are in, like the Metropolitans could have gone out and signed free agents from the Tijuana Bulls, the Agua Caliente Railroadmen, and the Guadalajara musicians of the Mexican League.

And they would have saved some money and they'd still miss the playoffs.

And I'll bet you the guy from the Railroadmen and the musician from Guadalajara would have made the catch.

All right.

Well then, uh, let me just say, Marty, on the way out, I just would like to say, uh, congratulations, uh, to the Tijuana Toros.

Felicidades a los Toros de Tijuana, who, uh, won the champions.

They are, uh, campeones, uh, de nuevo.

My travel companion was sick, and so I couldn't make it.

But good to see a baseball championship right here in our region.

Third championship for the Tijuana Toros.

They won in 2017, 2021, and now in 2026.

I love that.

And right now, the Toros de Tijuana are playing against the Olmecas de Tabasco, Tabasco, who upset the Diablos Rojos in the semifinals.

So, fun fact, the leader in postseason RBI, which your Spanish lesson today is in, if you look at that stat, we'll say CI, which is Carreras Impulsadas, which is the same thing, runs better than, and walks, is your 22 pick from Arizona, Seth Beer, and the jersey that we all want to get with Beer.

Right, sure.

Sounds like Tuesday.

So tied for first place with five others, but tied for first place in postseason home runs with four is my 21 Kansas City pick, Franchi Cordero.

And he is playing... with the Toros de Tijuana.

And Esteban Floreal, who I had picked, oh shit, I didn't look it up.

Then played the 2024 season for the York Revolution, another independent team, this one in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball.

Then he plays with the Toros de Tijuana in Mexico in early 2025.

And then later, re-signs with the Royals organization and spent some time in AA and AAA.

But this career at some point literally takes him to a Mexican baseball league.

Can I just say as a quick aside, Marty, something about the San Francisco Giants that I can talk about a little later on in the week? Please do.

On Tuesday night, while you are going to be at Peckham Park, I am going to be in Tijuana watching the Tijuana Toros.

okay play in the serie del rey so the uh the king series as it is the mexican league world series the manager of that team is roberto kelly bobby kelly who is on staff who is on with the san francisco giants part of that coaching staff for years that was successful that one he won at least two world series titles maybe three he might have been there for all three of them I don't know.

I don't know where San Francisco is going, and it's not really my concern.
