H&J 148 - Tough Decisions

Uh, a handful of guys hit the IL this week, all four of them kind of at that replacement level threshold.

Uh, Francisco Alvarez, New York Mets catcher, uh, Athletics infielder Jacob Wilson, Toronto Blue Jays infielder Addison Barger, and Detroit Tigers outfielder Carry Carpenter, all four headed to the IL this week.

Um, any of those more significant than just an, uh, you know, a replacement level or thereabouts?

Yeah, so if you are in a points league, Jacob Wilson is a guy I'd be trying to hold on to.

He is just the perfect makeup for, for that kind of league.

Puts a ton of balls in play.

Never strikes out, especially if you've got a strikeout penalty.

Jacob Wilson is a guy you should probably prioritize.

He might be special enough that, like, he becomes a, a must-hold in all leagues, but I know a lot of you are in 10 and 12-team leagues with like, two or three outfield spots, and a lot of them are probably full, especially with all the pitching arms that you've gotta keep on there.

Uh, you know, you've got Skubal or you've got, you know, Freed who's about to go out there.

You know, you know, bigger names.

So Jacob Wilson in a points league is one I'd wanna be holding onto, but Francisco Alvarez had already moved to the bottom of the batting order for the Mets.

He's been hitting for average and nothing else lately.

I'd go back to the well and look for some catchers.

Uh, same for, you know, Addison Barger.

I, I already didn't think you had to keep him on your IL, especially if it was limited.

You know, when he was gone the first time, he only came back for a few days, now he's gone again.

Is there maybe a good player in there? Sure, but we've seen so little of it.

We saw it, we first...

You know, we saw it for like a few months in the season, like two months in the season.

We saw it in the playoffs.

And a- other than that, for the last, like, 50 to 60 regular season games we've seen, he's just not been very good.

And there's just so many options at outfield.

Like, maybe if you're in a deep league with third base, like it's a different story, but in a 10 or a 12-team league, especially if you don't have corner outfield, you don't need to hold on to Addison Barger.
