I mean, Alicent used to be a protagonist in her own right, but it's hard to be a protagonist when you're locked in a room.
I was always wondering how the hell this show was going to maintain Rhaenyra's main character status at this point in the story.
And I think this is precisely... what the show needed to do to maintain its main character being a main character.
Something they did extraordinarily well this episode was have a vibe and a feeling of dread and discomfort and stress in a way that feels very real and very grounded and relatable.
responsibilities people coming to you with their fucking problems while you're dealing with other stuff and your period just started and also your son died the other day that one might not be so relatable to everyone
yeah it's a feeling of of stress under responsibility i was very pleased with a lot of what we touched base with like corliss and adam and alan's subplot i adored we finally got my favorite character linda massey
i know i'm so happy for you
I have been yelling for Linda Massey all season and now she's finally here front and center and we got Sylvie.
was here too and Alison sort of invoked Diana when she was talking about you will do things that you will hate.
And all these concerns about like the crown's gold has disappeared and where's Thailand and...
Like a lot of these little like subplots and issues is all stuff that they planted these seeds ages ago.
Absolutely.
Last week, you said that this show's greatest strength is how strong of a basis season one is.
And it needs to lean on that.
It needs to poke at those relationships.
It needs to remind us all of those things we've been knowing for the last four years.
And this episode is cashing in all of that potential.
And it's fucking fantastic.
