Cold open

But let's dive into this episode that we saw here from Jeff Goldblum and CMAT.

Very excited to kick things off with both of you and talk about our first cold open of series two, where it's going to be centered around Harry and Meghan returning home.

They're going to head over to Balmoral Castle in Scotland and where Charles and Camilla, who we met last year, played by Larry and Emma, are relaxing, and we're going to meet the first portrayals of Harry and Meghan, played by Jack Shep and Ayoade Bangvoye.

They're very excited to come home, and obviously this has been a pretty big news story about them kind of just leaving the States without any fanfare, and there was like When did Harry and Meghan go home? What's the deal? Are they being taken back? There's a lot of questions here.

And Frankie, I'd love to know your thoughts on what you saw to open up the show.

Yeah, I mean, there was so much over the summer in terms of British politics.

And I did constantly, any time anything happened, think, oh, surely this is going to be the cold open.

Surely this is going to be the cold open.

But, you know, even given that, you know, I mean, shock value and surprise element for a show like this isn't ultra important, although it would have... already knew they were coming you know

yeah it didn't hurt that much but again it would have been a nice reveal then so otherwise like they could have just walked in without the helmets almost but again not everybody you know watches the trailers we're doing it because we talk about the show that sort of thing it isn't bothering you at all that now over the last three episodes i believe we have had exactly one scene set in paddies and that was the cold open for the gang gets tested where they're talking about their test results before they go back to school and I really enjoyed the episode that I can't say that it really bothered me, but at this point I'm like, all right, you know, you're going back to the bar after this one, right?

I feel like we're due for a full on.

patty's episode don't leave the fucking bar i'd really like to see another uh you know uh something uh charlie mcdennis or something that keeps him there all day you know uh even uh i mean it's a little too early in the season but even even the charlie thing with the football and the super bowl where he was locked in the anything the whole

Dennis seeks a sexual path to glory, aiming to capitalize on the nerd kink thing Dee says is prevalent here.

Mack pleads for them just to immerse themselves in the world, but after a plane loudly flies just over their heads, they're reminded of exactly what reality they're in.

So I know we've had kind of some mixed cold opens here, the cut to the title card.

Not bad here, but I really felt that like right after the dude yelled dragon and then you got the plane, they should have just cut to the title card, but then they had more lines after that.

It's like I, I usually use this time to like kinda get myself ready for the episode.

I'm tired of dealing in nuance.

Like, I want wins this year.

So first things first, let's get some music going, shall we?

I didn't expect the cold open to be me, but luckily I got asked an easy question.

That was all right.

I had a minor panic there when I realised one of my buttons wasn't working, so forgive me.

But eventually you did deal with all of the goblins except one which you managed to capture as Grux speared it to the floor through the leg and bound it in rope.

And that's where we essentially finished.

So as per the cold open, and as we discussed just before we went live, you have all essentially decided in a moment of team clarity, which is rare in this team, that maybe we don't interrogate the goblin in the middle of a goblin ambush site, and maybe we move a little bit further on.

So you've travelled a little bit of distance out of this sort of narrow passage out into wider plains and you found a little copse of trees to make a camp and there is a smallish fire so you don't give yourselves away too much but definitely needed in the cold air.
