Episode DCL: Rebecca Roanhorse and the Edge of the Abyss

I'm

going to ask, having written in different eras of Star Wars and then having to go, like you mentioned, like Alex's book has a different flavor of Star Wars and yours is a different flavor of Star Wars.

What is the thing that defines Star Wars across all of that for you? What is it that makes something Star Wars?

I was going to say hope.

Yeah.

But I think it is, right? Rebellions are built on hope.

I think it really is, as flippant as that may sound, this idea that some people rise to the occasion, but that everyone can rise to the occasion, right? Like everyone...

can find, if they can believe and they can hope.

So another question, just do you have like a favorite character that, that if you were, if you know, Tom or Lucasfilm came to you and said, you know, you've got carp launch, pick a character.

That's your favorite to write for a future project.

What character would that be and why?

Oh, well, OK, so it is Saw because he is my favorite character and I did get to write him.

But maybe if they let me go back and write Saw as a young man, Saw when he was still on Onderon and his sister was still alive and I got to write something about that.

I would, I would do that.

Absolutely.

Because I think he'll always, I just find him so fascinating and complicated.

And so something like that I might do.

Yeah.

There's so many, for as much as he's been used, there are still so many great gaps for him, whether that's the resistance on Onderon during the Clone Wars, before the Jedi get involved, or really the aftermath of...
