Boba Fett

The earliest surviving marketing material, the 1981 licensing kit, didn't specifically call him evil, but rather, the bounty hunter of our exciting universe.

A description that reeked of Mattel trying to catch a little of that Boba Fett magic off the Empire Strikes Back.

So, not quite Skeletor's lackey per se like Beastman or Merman, but more like a gun for hire, which left just a teeny-weeny tiny bit of wiggle room for him to maybe, possibly not want to take out He-Man and friends.

I mean, for being honest, demonic feet aside, nothing about Zodak's appearance screamed evil.

... and stuff like that, and so there's...

Th- I love that it got brought up in the, uh, the Book of Boba Fett with-

I don't care what anybody says.

Because, yeah, Mega Man X gets his ass kicked by Vile, who looks like Boba Fett, but was actually based on a character from Mad Max.

But, yeah.

Dark Disciple, obviously the Boba Fett stuff, the Yuuzhan Vong-

... were gonna be, were gonna be-

Um, of course they'd end up doing Bad Batch.

Uh, uh, they've ended up doing that actually in the show.

Um, then yes, there was the Crystal Crisis on Utapau stuff that they, they never ended up adapting, and then there was the Boba Fett stuff.

So like-

You'll see one guy in a wig or whatever.

It's kind of the whole Boba Fett thing where that guy looks cool.

Tell me more about that guy.

And you get all these stories about Boba Fett, but Boba Fett sucks.

And so it's kind of that thing.

Hey, in that new frontier series is Shelby in that? Yes.

I feel like they have veered way, way off course.

And it's obvious that they just wanted their own characters, like this Mandalorian and Grogu movie, you know, it was basically Disney Boba Fett and Disney Yoda.

You know, this is like their Disney characters that they wanted like Ray to be Disney Luke and Kylo Ren to be Disney Darth Vader.

And that's even that park down there, they have all those new characters in the star Wars park.

I'm thinking I could probably get away with wearing these though.

But they feature Darth Vader, R2-D2, C-3PO, Boba Fett, and a Stormtrooper, which are all given that colorful, ornate sugar skull treatment.
