Adventure writer Peter Heller spoke with Dave Davies in 2012 about the book, which draws on his own survival skills. Also, we remember pioneering rock critic Dave Marsh. He was an early champion and biographer of Bruce Springsteen, and helped launch the rock magazine *Creem* before winding up at *Rolling Stone*. He died August 14 at age 79.
