Creem

Right around this time is when Peter leaves.

He leaves the band, and he starts writing for Creem Magazine alongside Lester Bangs, whom he'd, uh, been a, a great admirer of.

And unfortunately, Peter also had a pretty bad drug and alcohol problem, leading to his death in 1977 at age 24 from acute pancreatitis, and Lester Bangs wrote his eulogy.

But back to the band, in 1976, later in 1976, they put out the Street Waves/My Dark Ages/I Don't Get Around seven-inch.

It's about the self-important critic.

The writer from Rolling Stone magazine who called Led Zeppelin weak, the writer from Creem magazine who said The Stones' Exile was the worst studio album they'd made, or the writer from NME who compared Queen's debut to a bucket of urine.

You'll notice I didn't mention these critics by name because, well, why give them the satisfaction? Most have been forgotten, yet the music lives on.

Queen, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Steven Spielberg, Stephen King, The Beatles, pick your example.

I was actually trying to look, can, maybe I could find a review that made me buy it.

So I looked first, just like, Creem.

I must've read it in Creem.

No, Creem, they didn't pan it, but they were cool on it.

Rolling Stone were cool on it.

Yeah.

... very significant figure in all kinds of ways, you know.

Came from Detroit and Creem magazine and so forth, and then Rolling Stone and, and then went out on his own and did all kinds of intriguing things like he, he was the first person to do a kind of, kind of a rock 'n' roll newsletter.

You know, in the pre-internet day- days, he did a thing called Rock and Roll Confidential.

Um, and he was, he was married to Barbara Carr, who was one of, one of Bruce Springsteen's managers.
