On his way to a midterm campaign event in North Carolina Wednesday evening, President Trump expressed confidence in Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh, but was critical of the central bank's decision to raise its benchmark interest rate by a quarter point.

I talked to Kevin, and I said, "You might as well vote with the board because it's not gonna matter." Uh, the board is very hostile.

Today, this standard has not been satisfied.

Fed policymakers signaled that on average, they expect just one more quarter-point rate hike this year and stable rates in twenty twenty-seven.

A federal judge in Washington, DC, has given the Trump administration a deadline.

The judge wants the administration to respond later this morning to a request for an emergency court hearing on the plan to close the Kennedy Center for up to two years for repairs.

The Trump Treasury Department has attempted to lower longer-term interest rates by buying back debt, but rates have not fallen in a sustained way.

Stocks overseas mostly higher following the Fed's decision Tuesday, uh, rather Wednesday, to raise its benchmark interest rate.

Although stocks in China are declining, Japan's benchmark Nikkei is up after climbing as much as one percent earlier in Thursday's session.

President Trump is back at the White House, arriving there late Wednesday night after campaigning in North Carolina for Republican Senate candidate Michael Whatley, a former party chair who is locked in a challenging race against his Democratic opponent, former Governor Roy Cooper.

At a rally in Gastonia, Trump a- again asked supporters to pretend that he's on the ballot.

The company also found AI models fabricating information and AI agents working together when they weren't asked to.

OpenAI says the reports are initial disclosures, not a comprehensive account of all known misalignment or ongoing investigations, but it says it's committed to sharing more over time.

An Afghan man convicted of aiding the Islamic State terrorist group in Afghanistan has been sentenced to twenty years in prison.

The case against Mohammed Sharifullah was tied to a deadly bombing at the Kabul airport during the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.

The bombing became a symbol of the chaotic U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan under the Biden administration.

Sharifullah was arrested in twenty twenty-five, an event touted by senior Trump administration officials, including the president himself, who mentioned it during his address to Congress that year.

The House referred Black to the DOJ today, holding him in contempt of Congress after he defied House oversight subpoenas in the panel's investigation into Jeffrey Epstein.

So how could my taste be so out of whack with this general narrative? Something was going on.

Unsure what to do with all these anxieties and questions, I made a radio piece for the NPR show I used to work for on the media.
