DJI shipped more than 10 million handheld cameras last year – more than every CIPA camera maker combined. Together with Insta360, the company now ships more than twice as many cameras as the entire mirrorless industry. And in our Lab, the Sony FX5 just matched the ARRI ALEXA Mini LF for dynamic range. In this week's episode, Nino and Johnnie are back from IBC to go through the FX5 Lab Test, the ARRI-branded HONOR Magic9 Pro Max, Nikon’s Z5IIC, Meta’s VR Glasses, a SIGMA fp open-gate hack, the Chronos Q12, the big RØDECaster Video update, the crowdfunding launch of our OrBrella light, and more. • OrBrella Crowdfunding Campaign: http://cined.co/OrBrella • This Episode is Sponsored by Hollyland. Sony FX5 lab test3:23 – 13:57

Johnnie BehiriHost

3:23

Mm.

Nino LeitnerHost

3:24

So you reviewed the FX5 already over the summer in Japan.

Nino LeitnerHost

3:30

Um, as our audience knows, we always wait for the production version of a camera to arrive so we can be sure, and this is actually firmware version 100.

Nino LeitnerHost

3:41

It's the final one.

Johnnie BehiriHost

3:42

How come we have a ca- the camera? Everybody else is waiting for the camera, and we have a camera.

Johnnie BehiriHost

3:46

Maybe you want to explain what's going on.

Nino LeitnerHost

3:48

I don't know.

Nino LeitnerHost

3:48

[laughs]

Johnnie BehiriHost

3:49

[laughs]

Nino LeitnerHost

3:50

Well, we talked about it last, last week, but we know, I mean, some, some have been shipped.

Nino LeitnerHost

3:55

We still don't really have confirmation-

Johnnie BehiriHost

3:57

Yeah

Nino LeitnerHost

3:57

... what's going on.

Johnnie BehiriHost

3:58

Yeah.

Nino LeitnerHost

3:58

But it-

Johnnie BehiriHost

3:58

I mean, let's say that the camera is from Sony.

Nino LeitnerHost

4:00

Yeah.

Johnnie BehiriHost

4:00

It's on a loan here-

Nino LeitnerHost

4:01

Of course

Johnnie BehiriHost

4:01

... exactly for that exact reason, to run the lab test.

Nino LeitnerHost

4:05

Mm.

Johnnie BehiriHost

4:06

And I think we are both, uh, in- including Gunther and Florian, who helped to do the test, of course, I mean, they made the test, basically, uh, we, we're very happy to see these results because it's really confirmed what we saw or felt in the field when working with the camera.

Johnnie BehiriHost

4:22

Maybe you wanna elaborate a little bit here.

Nino LeitnerHost

4:24

Yeah, so basically, I mean, we find that the FX5 is the new benchmark for full-frame cameras in our standardized lab test, and that's, you know, big news kind of.

Nino LeitnerHost

4:33

Um, dual gain at ISO 800 in S-Log3 combines low and high gain in one exposure, as we know.
