The second video in my Spring Forward Your Health series is here! In this lecture I'm diving into the world of advanced glycation end products (AGEs), hidden toxins lurking in our food and cooking…
So what does advanced glycation end product mean? Advanced glycation end products.
Glycation, what is glycation? Glycation is when a sugar molecule attaches itself to another molecule, and the one you all know about.
The higher hemoglobin A1c, the more your blood sugars have been running over the last few months, maybe about two months or three months.
So the hemoglobin A1c is the classic example of a advanced glycation end product.
So basically, look, when you get protein attached to glucose, they don't just float around in the bloodstream.
When you get aldehydes in the body that also attach to glucose, that's an advanced glycation end product.
When you get methylglyoxal plus protein plus lipids, when they combine, they create advanced glycation end products.
So proteins, lipids, combine with glucose and produce these horrible substances.
