Prospect Graduates4:00 – 7:12

4:00

I do want to start with a couple of the graduates.

4:06

Another nice little shameless plug.

4:08

Before the season, I had posted my top 20.

4:12

And number one was DeLauder.

4:14

Bazana was number three.

4:16

And Parker Messick was number seven.

4:17

All 50 or higher.

4:18

Bazana had it at 55.

4:21

I was extremely critical about Bazana.

4:25

Still had him at a 55, but I will say this.

4:29

I do think that this is quite a graduating class for the Cleveland Guardians.

4:34

DeLauder has been one of the very, very best rookies in all of baseball.

4:41

At the time of this recording, hitting 294, 132 WRC+, top five in the American League in batting average.

4:47

top 15 WRC plus approaching three wins has for the most part stayed fairly healthy.

4:54

Obviously the rib injury after the collision with the wall, the hamstring injury, which he is had kind of limited him a little bit here and there, uh, in the last couple of weeks.

5:03

But outside of that, he's approaching over 125 games played.

5:07

Uh, that is far more than I had ever thought he would play as a rookie.

5:12

I really thought they would limit him a little bit more, but I thought it was really important after that rib injury, they kind of just took the kid gloves off.

5:19

They let him feel what it felt like to get through an injury without it taking months at a time to recover.

5:27

And he's been great since.

5:28

He's been stealing bases.

5:29

He's been more aggressive in the outfield.

5:31

And his defensive metrics, they definitely reflect that.

5:36

He was a negative three prior to getting hurt.
