No, not that Runner. That is The Runner, and it stars Gal Gadot. This Runner stars Alan Ritchson and Owen Wilson. This is definitely going to help this week’s episode of the podcast stand out when a…
you tell daryl i don't want that bird i want the bentley you're not getting it just
tell me what to do with the bird kill it it's no secret that i love alan richson i've been following him since this sounds creepy but it shouldn't be i've been a fan of his since he debuted in smallville to thad castle in blue mountain state to hawk of hawk and dove in titans to reacher And now, having seen the man in real life and heard him talk about his career, I really appreciate what he's trying to do for the action genre.
And Runner is an example of a new original film that would be critically probably panned if it didn't do what makes it special and stand out from so much of what I would classify as streaming slop.
First of all, this was released in theaters, which is something that has to be accounted for There are so many movies that are made without the regard, really, that people are going to be paying attention.
But this idea that when watching something on streaming, you have the audience is like half attention.
So the details that you would normally inject into something, you sort of just don't do and you go for something that's passable for a certain amount of time and then the people will move on.
We see this with a lot of action films, specifically on Prime Video and Netflix as maybe the best examples.
Films that have stars that you would be excited about that don't ultimately deliver something that's necessarily memorable.
For me, what it comes down to with a fun, entertaining action flick is you need the two main leads to bounce off each other really well.
You need there to be something to grasp to from a character standpoint, and then the mission they go on needs to be something that you want to see them succeed.
You need to care about what's going on with the characters, and then the action, ironically, needs to be done in a way that... is entertaining, maybe there's a brutality to it and seems competent in all aspects, whether that be the action stars in it, the cinematography, as well as the direction and what purpose it does in serving the story.
Alan Richson being a producer and starring now through four seasons of Reacher and countless other films now, War Machine as a big example, understands that he wants to create new and original things.
Does this necessarily mean they're always going to lead to sequels or series down the road? Probably not.
We get the trailer introduction, which is there is a organ that needs to be delivered by Owen Wilson's Ben Bishop.
And what would be easy—it would be, it'd be incredibly easy— for Richson to just sort of be a Reacher clone.
