What?

Action star Alan Richson stars as Hank Malone, a former Army Special Forces soldier and recovering alcoholic living in Brisbane, Australia, who works as a high-value courier taking on discreet transport jobs.

Haunted by the loss of his young daughter, Isabel, to leukemia, Hank is hired by his handler to set up a sensitive medical package at an airfield and deliver it.

At the tarmac, Hank meets Ben Bishop, played by Oscar nominee Owen Wilson, an eccentric organ transport courier carrying a donor liver with a rare blood type needed to perform a life-saving transplant on a young girl named Ellie.

We get the trailer introduction, which is there is a organ that needs to be delivered by Owen Wilson's Ben Bishop.

He's the runner who picks the guy up to deliver this.

And ultimately, things obviously go awry.

And what would be easy—it would be, it'd be incredibly easy— for Richson to just sort of be a Reacher clone.

And I don't think that this movie would work if that's what they did.

I'm very grateful that this bothers to explore who Hank Malone is as a person.

I'm very grateful that this bothers to explore who Hank Malone is as a person.

We get a somewhat similar to a lot of these action films in terms of not wanting to be a part of an ac-action or violence, to not be a physical threat.

It's impossible for that not to be the case, just looking at Alan Ritchson in general.

So that is actually the film's strongest points, if we were to be honest.

And he's a former American soldier or, you know, a soldier.

In this movie, he's playing a variant of the same type.

Hank Malone is former military, currently working as a runner in Australia.

How did he get to Australia, you might ask? I'm sure the tax credit the government offers to movie studios probably helped get him there.

Anyway, he's the guy you call when you need to make sure a sensitive delivery arrives on time.

At first, I wondered what in the world a drug cartel would want with a human liver.

But the story makes sense, and both the heroes and the villains have compelling reasons for doing what they're doing on a day that turns out pretty badly for everyone involved.

Runner is rated PG-13 for strong violence, bloody images, and some language.

Yeah.

He plays here Hank Malone, a runner, literally, which is why the film is called Runner.

Basically, his job is he does kind of intense kind of courier work for a courier company in Brisbane, Australia.

His work can consist of anything from going and waking up a politician who's been in a hotel room with a prostitute when he should be in Parliament, through to... picking up a warring couple's expensive parrot and delivering it to the other side of the couple.
