So, like, unbeknownst to a lot of people out there, a lot of, um, people might have the misconception that Indigenous people, and especially Indigenous Australians, um, you know, live off government payments, have, uh, public housing, da, da, da, da.
And I would say, add to that, most of my family's experiences is very different, and that would, uh, my immediate family definitely, and it would also extend to part of my extended family.
Um, we're all very hardworking, and I think that probably comes from the example that our parents set and also, uh, my grandfather.
Uh, he was known as a carpenter man there, 'cause he had quite an integral part in building the, uh, church, the famous Beagle Bay Church with all the pearl shells.
And then, uh, I think he worked at Kennedy Store, which was on the hill where we sort of lived after that.
So that, that, I mean, that church is absolutely beautiful and, and Nan, before she passed, even reminisced about dusting the pearl shell and, and, and, um, growing up around that.
Um, what made you come full circle and, and, um, want to do that? What was the trigger for that?
Uh, he spends more time with us now, but I think I can thank his wife for that.
