Broome

Not on socials a lot, and I don't think my best mate is either, but he was over the weekend.

One of my best mates from Wakery moved to Broome, and he's gone viral.

And for all the things he could have went viral for, I'm reasonably happy this one was it because it wasn't too bad.

He's a good fella, but he pushes the boundaries every now and then.

And up on Cable Beach up at Broome, he works up there.

He's worked in the mines for a long time, but he was out on the beach with his couple of daughters who are about 18 and 21.

And then after that, we'll get to that next, of course.

But then we flew up to Broome and had a night at Cable Beach Club, which was quite amazing.

And you were traveling a whole lot this summer.

Yes, I was down in Australia, and I visited six cities, Perth, Fremantle, Broome on Western Australia, and on Eastern Australia, Melbourne, Sydney, and Parramatta.

And I just want to say hello to all our listeners.

I discovered, Colleen, that in visiting and speaking and meeting groups in all these places, Many, many of them are listening into our Inside the Vatican podcast.

So we met quite a cross-section of people.

I learned a lot about the country, what it's like, what its people, a very prosperous country, and about the aboriginal peoples of this country.

And we had quite an interesting conversation introduction to that in Broome, which is really one of the three campuses of the university.

And it's what Francis would call a periphery on the periphery.

So that's another big port.

And just recently, Broome, which is in northern Western Australia, that's been really doing a lot of cattle to Indonesia recently as well.

And so that'll sort of dictate the length of the voyage.

So from Darwin to Indonesia, if it's heading to Jakarta, that voyage can be four days.

So it's quite short.

Yep.

But if it's going from Townsville, it's typically a seven day voyage and Broome somewhere in between.

But if you're looking to send sheep to the Middle East, for instance, and some cattle go as well, that would be a three week voyage and a voyage to China would probably be around the same time.

Obviously the key thing coming into Christmas is not only Christmas day and holidays and gifts and sharing times with family and friends, but it's, you know, the tourism industry, And I think what we'll find, and we'll talk about it on Money News in coming weeks, is what has to happen locally for tourists.

What has to happen in Western Australia? What has to happen in Exmouth? What has to happen in Broome? What has to happen in the Kimberleys? All of these things might become more realistic than jetting off overseas and going on a holiday.

And you might think whether it be Bali, Indonesia, Philippines, Europe, whatever it might be, people will start to look locally.

for closer transport, closer accommodation and closer experiences for their family, which will be a big win for Western Australia, in my opinion, and other states across Australia, which we might see as a trend coming into the Christmas and holiday season.
