Father

Rule number one, no more direct conversation.

Mom, get her an attorney, or if your dad's alive, have Dad handle it, not Mom.

This works much better 'cause that's military.

We need a guy to handle this.

And then you get married, and now it's all yours.

Mom and Dad aren't really helping out.

That can be a reality check.

What advice do you give in the book for that budgeting process and what she can do to live in the moment and control the moment?

I'm staying home with them.

I'm homeschooling them.

So I know what they need from Dad when they get home.

Now, Dad comes to the door, all the kids rush to the door and wanna see Dad.

Romans 12:2 would say, "The Holy Spirit transformed your thinking." You begin to think differently.

A little girl came to her father and said, "Daddy, you promised to give me a nickel." Father had promised to give her a nickel.

So he reached into his pocket, couldn't find a nickel.

Said, "Well, you've been a good girl, so I don't have any change, so." He reached into his pocket, thought he'd give her a dollar bill.

He said, "Whoa."

[laughs]

"You know what? You've been so good, I'm going to give you a $20 bill." She said, "But Daddy, you promised me a nickel."

"Like Daddy said." [laughs]

[laughs] Watch your fucking mouth, man.

Yeah.

Like, all of a sudden I feel like he went from being like, you know, "Daddy, I hungry.

Can I have snacks?" To being like, "I don't think that we should do that.

Yeah.

My dad is, like...

I feel like I, I get really emotional when I talk about Dad, 'cause, like, that guy is, like, he's just, he's a hero, man.

Right.

Like, I didn't understand what those amplifiers, like, why is, like, a, some bulk, not even bulk, like, chunky looking thing with the red lights underneath the seat was like that mambo, like [laughs]

The second one was, like, it's the, the, the music, like, the songs that he would play.

Like, I was like, be wondering, like, what is this? Like, how are you in suit and, like, or this is your-

Did you used to engage him on it? Like, "Dad, what is this?"

But how does that happen? Jesus gave us one insight into how that takes place.

How does the Father chasten his son? In Luke chapter 15, he tells exactly how it happens.

"Give me the goods, Dad.

I wanna do my thing.

I want my freedom.

I wanna go into the city.

I'm gonna make a big time splash there.

You watch, Dad, you'll see." "Okay, son, if that's what you want." And he gave him the money.

That's the message.

Imagine tomorrow my son's going to tell me, Dad, you told me off last night, I want a divorce.

Okay, I know, I know.

Okay, maybe in certain situations.

It's a very sad sequence to watch Maria get left, but I do laugh every single time.

But yeah, Asia shoots the dad.

Dad survives, but she tries to make a run for it.

Gets caught anyway.

Has to spend about 10 years in jail.

While she's in jail, Maria does her best to make ends meet.

Dad ends up passing away, and she gets a job at the Virgil, which is this lavish apartment in what used to be a not very good neighborhood.

But it's also in an area where there have recently been a lot of missing persons reports.

She took me, sat me down on the bed when she'd seen me with this crowd of kids in a park.

And she said, Jill, if you ever get pregnant, it will kill Daddy.

That was all she said.

She said, that's all I wanted to say.

Just know, if you ever get pregnant, it will kill Daddy.

And after that, the next week, I went to another party I shouldn't have gone to.

And a young man tried to get me into bed.
