Fun 101.3 Reunion: Five Years After the Final Broadcast

Five years after Fun 101.3’s final broadcast, Dennis Mitchell, Michelle Cruz, Vince Knight, and Ronnie Ramone reunite to share the stories behind the microphones, the laughter, and the goodbye. If you grew up listening to 101.3 The Rose or made Fun 101.3 part of your daily routine in Central Pennsylvania, this conversation is for you. On this special episode of the What the Nell!? Podcast, Nell Tice brings the four familiar voices back together to revisit their time at the station, what listeners never heard on air, and the emotional final broadcast on September 30, 2021. We talk about: • How each of them found their way to the station. • Dennis and Michelle’s morning-show chemistry. • Behind-the-scenes mishaps, hot mics, and unexpected celebrity encounters. • The live broadcasts, community events, and listeners they still remember. • What really goes into live radio, from voice tracking to ratings pressure. • Learning the station was being sold and preparing to say goodbye. • Why “These Are Days” by 10,000 Maniacs became the final song. • Where life and radio have taken them since. There are plenty of laughs, a few things that definitely wouldn’t have made it onto the morning show, and a reminder of how much familiar voices can mean to a community. For anyone navigating entrepreneurship, working as a business owner, or building a creative career, there’s something here about teamwork, creative freedom, and earning an audience’s trust.
